Is the horsepower rating on the 2007 GT the new SAE standard or the old standard? I have been reading that new cars are rated by a new method that is not as "optimistic" as the old method. If that is true, then is the 2007, which is still rated at 300hp, more powerful than the previous years?

The new standard didn't really effect most of the domestic OEM's as much as it did the asian car compaines. The therory is that Ford, Chevy and Chrysler switched to the standard with their latest engines prior to the release.

hp is different to metric hp (PS) but they're not so different: 300hp = 304ps

its simple, they just always used ricer math to get their figures. America has had enough of the fast and the furious, that is all.

I've owned an 06'GT and now an 07 GT.I feel they are both about the same at stock HP output.I did however have the rear end gears changed out to 3:73's from 3:55's and the 07' has a better hole shot.
