I just bought a new radiator today and put it in cuz i was having some over heating issues. Thought that would solve it but its still happening.
I got a new water pump new hoses new radiator what else could be causing this?
I start it up it runs fine I drive it around and it drives great but as soon as I shut it off it start bubbling up out of the overflow tank.
It only happens right when I shut it off any Ideas?:SNSign:

My temp gaudge says everything is great the whole time im driving. I have one of those pressure release caps. This is a weird problem I think Im gonna change my T- stat and cap today and test drive it again.

Are your temp readings coming from the stock temp gauge? If so, it could be a bad sending unit. Try confirming your readings with an aftermarket temp gauge.

Stang cooling systems are notoriously hard to bleedall the air out of. I do agree with the others on the rad cap. If you swap out the T stat buy one with a weep hole in it and mount it top side. If you can't find one like that drill a very small hole in it. Don't drill in the mounting area but just below it, That will help get the air that likes to sit in there out. I also fill the block thru the top hose until I get coolant from the heater core return and then reconnect the hoses, run and top off.

I agree with Tbovee and would simply suggest getting a Mr Gasket t-stat. They're a very nice piece and worth every penny extra that they cost over a parts store version (and we're talkin a couple hundred penny difference. Nothin). It will have a jiggle valve like he mentioned, as well as opening fully sooner and being balanced.

I'd really get a real temp gauge too. The stockers have hysteresis built into them and are often way off anyhow. As an e.g., my stocker read 35* too cool at 195*F. Not nice.

I just did the T stat and the radiator cap. It had a small moving metal piece like you mentioned im not sure if I put it at the top. Im about to go test the stang and see what happens Ill keep you guys posted. Oh ps the cap I got is not a pressure release.

What do you mean by pressure release? Something like a Lever-vented cap (pull up on the red lever to bleed off some pressure)? If so, no biggie. I prefer the old-school scald-yourself caps anyhow.

Well I test Drove black beauty again today and its still throwing up coolant out of the over flow tank. Im stumped .

If you don't think it's due to air pockets being purged, I'd get a cooling system pressure tester on there.
