My parents have been collecting hot wheels for a lil while. But they only collect the "realistic" cars.

I only collect oldsmobile cars and mustangs. But it's off to a slow start.

I've worked in retail for a long time. It's pretty much an inside joke among all retail workers about the hotwheel collector people who come in at all hours of the night looking for cars. They come in and reck the hell out of your shelves, open your boxes if they're not stocked yet and make a giant mess of everything. Honestly it pisses me off because i envision the average kid who might be trying to collect, and he's going to have to resort to going to the flea market and buying them for 3x what they're worth just to get the cars he's missing because this guy came in at 3am and hogged them all. It just doesn't seem right to me but what do i know

This is going to be a long post and im sorry in advance. Listed below is the full 2009 set from the website, BUT it dont include the holiday ones. So with that said is the special holidays ones actually part of the year set? Ifso anyone know where to find that list, or a list with all the color variations? Im also have been looking for the protective cases for them, the ones that fit over the thw whole unopened car, if that makes sense, anyway anyone know where to get those as well?

Thanks! I gave up the Hot Wheels hobby in early 2008. I have had a lot of hobbies, but becareful because HWs will snowball fast! I started out collecting mainline cars, but then I went after rare and exclusive cars. When I paid $145 for a Toy Fair piece, I knew I had to stop. I also liked collecting a casting called the VW Drag Bus - it's the largest and heaviset HW casting. Don't expect to make any money or find gold with HWs. There is a chase series called Treasure Hunts mixed in with mainline cars. They used to be very limited, but now THs are overproduced and value has severly decreased with most.

The cases are made by Hot Wheels and were called Kar Keepers and came in 10 packs with an exclusive car. I used to get them at Kmart and Walmart, but I think they're discontinued. Check out this company, they also make some great protectors.

There is a nice looking LX hatch casting, this is a bad pic.

The best advise I can give you is collect what you like!

The Supers are more limited, have Real Riders (rubber tires) and usally better paint jobs. I don't know much about some of the series cars, there's so many it's hard to keep up.

Here a great guide for anything you wanna look up.
