That is my car, its a side project me and a friend are doing. As of right now its a n2o powered 2.3l, but when we pop enough of those n/a engines we are switching to a holset motivated turbo 2.3l. I have had, and currently have a few turbo 2.3l's and love them to death. This one is strictly a drag car, and is verry gutted. One day it will be painted, but for now we are seeing what we can do proformance wise. Our goal for the n2o setup is 7's in the 1/8th, oh and our budgit is $0.

lol, ya I have a 2.3l ranger with a boat load money in it, and my friend has a n2o stroker small block mustang coupe. We decided that we had spent enough money on cars. So we decided that we needed to build a car for free. so using a free mustang from the junkyard, and only spare parts and stuff we trade for spare parts we are going to see how fast we can take it.

Back in the day, Roush had some nasty NA 2.3 Merkurs running around in road racing classes. They all ran huge Esslinger heads and cams, crazy full/equal length headers and Webers. You can make a pretty nasty NA 2.3 but it's gonna cost a lot more than free.

It might be because the car is so rough, but I'm inclined to say that looks awful. If everything were straight and clean and the same color, my opinion might be different, but right now I'm sticking with awful. But if it's been 100% free so far, who cares?

I'll never build it...it's out of my budget...i can't afford the rolling piggy bank i have already. Also i have to admit, i used to lust after the idea of a Capri coupe but now that a few people have done it, i really don't like how they turned out. For the SVO it has to look like a factory Ford SVO coupe or i think it'll look funny.

You mean you don't like this?

I think it looks fantastic.

Honestly i think of two things when i see that car....first is that he stole and finished my idea with the nose on a coupe before i could finish mine, and two is i love those quarters on a hatch, but when i look at my coupe i like the Mustang's flairs better than the Capri's bulges. The wheels are sick though, i'm very jealous in that dept.

Are there any good examples of Capri noses on coupes? I don't know if I've ever seen that.

The red car isn't so bad really, but there is a "real" blueish colored Capri coupe out there somewhere that i've seen pics of, that has all the right Capri parts to make it look like a legit Capri coupe, and i dunno i guess for me there really just needs to be a bubble hatch to make a Capri look right. It's been posted on here a few times but i don't have the pic. In the end it's like i was saying i just like the Mustang style fender flairs on a coupe more than i do the Capri fenders. Something about the rear end being wider looking than normal makes the notch in the back look over pronounced or something..i can't really explain it.

I'm with you Nik!
I, (for obvious reasons) think that pushing the car in a different direction will make for a very cool car. The fact that nobody(or very few) has done it yet just means that it's an idea waiting for some money to be thrown at it.

(Don't let turbofox get it, It might be his next project)

The SVO treatment on a coupe would/should work, but like the pic of the notch w/ capri flares, you gotta go all in or it'll look like loads.

When I was gonna put a 2.3 turbo motor in place before the lowly 2v SOHC now taking up residence, I bought that engine out of a complete non-wrecked SVO, that the previous owner "modified" w/ an after market leaky sunroof.
That, plus the fact that the engine was hammering was why that thing was sitting the yard at Prestige Mustang parts in ATL last year.

* just checked, It's still there, as a parts car.

I love the svo nose on the coupe. The reason its so beat up is the svo it came off of t boned a truck. All the parts where smashed(hence not using them on an svo.) I wanted to see an svo coupe, so I made one. Its beat to hell, but its the only one I've ever seen. I'm going to peace it back together and make it look better over time, and maybe one day it will be pritty. But don't hold your breath. Because it might blow up before then!

I don't know that I have thought this out as far as you have. I have though about a 87-93 coupe with MM R/T suspension, t-bird turbo coupe drive line and emblems and a subtle light blue/ silver metallic paint job.

Back when we where restoring my dad's 86 SVO. Stinger Performance forums helped us a lot, and a couple of the guys over there have done variations of this idea. Though some didn't have the SVO front clip, the swap still is unique to me. Here's Matt Culpepper's black notch, which ran a 10.89 on pump gas
and Reaper's blue notch

Someday i still wanna do something like this. My Merkur was so much fun and it was pretty much stock. I'd love to find an old 4 eye coupe to do it in and leave it stock looking on the outside...just a clean old classic stock looking Fox with a nasty turbo 2.3...it'd be a nice sleeper.
