I want to complete this in the next year or so.

Manley Pistons and rods
Trickflow twisted wedge heads
BBK DSI intake
A set of cams *need help here*

My plan is to make as much 2v N/A power without taking a second mortgage lol.

I need help with cams. I want a weekend driver but i also want good power without dropping to 2MPG. What are some other things i can be looking at as i plan this build.

So you want to rip the shortblock apart and replace with forged internals for N/A power? No need to. Just work on the top end of the engine

well i want rip the engine apart because i do want to option to go FI later on down the road. im sure it wouldnt hurt. Im just looking for some ideas, tips and opinions on the DSI, Trickflow combo. this will be the first time that i delve into breaking down an engine and building it up.

Yeah take advice from someone whos goin to leave you on the side of the road when you do throw a rod or a spun bearing...? "Just leave it stock for now" TILL IT BREAKS.
I myself think the same way you do build up the internals maybe a stroke for more cubes? An you have a platform to build on down the road like chargers, nos, or turbo... A cam for now would be safe an major HP gain but can be costly for the 2v just be glad its not a 4v. four cams you would have to buy

Id say throw a set of Hi-tec stage 2 cams in there, maybe a trickflow intake and trickflow heads on the stock shortblock....should run like a rapped ape! Heck there is a guy running 11's with Hi-tec stage 2 cams and stock heads etc. But there is nothing wrong with going with a forged shortblock, but you will just not get all the power NA you want becuase of lower compression for FI then NA

Well i guess my main goal is more speed at the track but streetable as well. I wanted to stay N/A just to see how far i can go before throwing a SC on. There is something about "All Engine" that would be very gratifying if i were to spank some FI cars at the track.

Do you guys think its a good idea to deal with BBKs DSI intake.
ill look into hi-tech. since the trickflow heads will alow for a higher lift, do you think i should go higher. what kind of duration should i be looking for without killing gas mileage too much.

this is something that will be stretched out over the coarse of the next year or 2. I was also thinking about just buying a used engine block and leave the one in the stang alone till im done. The only problem with that is more money. im trying not to go too far over 5000 bucks.

another goal is to learn more about how engines work. i love working on cars as a hobby and i just think its time to take this to another level.

Well, if someone spins a rod N/A then that's user error. You dont need forged internals to run N/A if you have proper mixture timing and fluid level ect. Forged is a good idea if you want to run boost down the line, but two things to take into account.
1. Best N/A power will be at high compression wich wont accompany boost very well down the line
2. Best N/A power will come from cams that are not suited for boost (i.e. large overlap and tight LSA).

Bboylobo, if you want to learn about some engine tech i can recomend a couple articles i wrote. Heres ones on when to forge the engine, and about cams.

hitech stage 2's aren't exactly ideal for ported heads. take it from someone with first hand experience. the stage 2's are designed to work best with the stock pi heads.

the thing that's great about the tfs heads is that in their redesign they moved that valves up giving you more ptv clearance so you can run a bigger cam. how much bigger im not exactly sure. but i am fairly certain you can run .580 lift with them.

^ they have a .600 lift according TF site.

if i went with a high lift like .580 what kind of duration and LSA should be looking for if im doing N/A.
