anybody running the nitto DR's and drive in the rain? how are they? im gonna need a new set of tires soon (sumitomos are HORRIBLE) and for the extra $140 per pair, id rather get a DR. but if its gonna be even WORSE in the rain, ill have to think about it.

god i miss my jeep. 2 sets of the BEST summer and winter tires cost me $700 total.

im sure any dr's are gonna be pretty bad in the rain but i have nitto 555's and they are not very great in the rain so im gonna say not so good.
I would have to disagree.

I've had two sets of 555R's on my coupe and I'm now on my second set of 555's and I would say that they both do excellent in the rain and on dry road as long as you have at least 1/3 of the tread left. The traction starts to deminish shortly afterwards.

I have run many different brands of tires on my cars and I feel that the Nitto's are the best tires I have run.

I have 315 555r drag radials and last winter they were great. Better then my potenza so3 that i had on before them (275s). I also have about 12k on them. This year they arent very good but im down to the treadwear indicators and now i have a blower so....

I've heard a bunch of times that the 555r's barely hook better than good street tires, never heard much about people driving in the rain with them because it sounds like a horrible idea to drive with drag radials in the rain. I've also heard that the regular 555's are pretty bad in the rain once they have some wear on them.

They hook pretty damn good for street tires, and they are more of a street tire then the other drag radials. The bf's hook way better but you also have to take into account that they last about a tenth of the miles, and you cant drive in the rain. They lasted as good if not better then my potenza so3's, which are top notch tires. My car is my daily driver so everything is a comprimise. I could hook better with other drag radials but for how good they hook on dry pavement and the fact that i had no problem in the rain im gonna be buying a new set when the winters over. Also look at the price of those compared to some of the higher end tires, not a bad deal.
