boston acoustic speakers? I think I can get my hands on a set of 5x7s for free. Are they worth installing?

They r decent just dont put too much power to them, as in amps, if u r running deck power thats fine. I know a bunch of friends who had them and they blew them with too much power. they CANNOT handle they power they say they can..becareful

b/a are fairly well regarded... but it's not too much power that blows them, it's too little. Make sure your amps are cleanly powered w/out clipping distortion - this is what fries speaker elements. The speakers can likely take the rated power; the amps likely can't put it out. IMO

Crisp highs, tight bass. Boston Acoustics are quality speakers.

Head unit output is typically weak, you should be careful not to run it very hard, and don't turn up the bass. You'll want to consider decent amps as well. IMO

For the most part, BA speakers are tight, clean, indestructable, and EXPENSIVE! Good find on getting some for free.

My local installer has a pair, including xovers that he'll let go for about $30... let me know if interested.
