Can anyone tell me what part of the car this is? It is right in front of the rear bumper. Can someone also tell me how bad this rust is? The paint is flaking off, but I stabbed the metal with a screwdriver and it is still stiff like it should be. The critical parts of the car (frame rail, torque boxes, cowl, floor pan) are all in good shape. It looks worse because I put fluid film on it in the spring.

If it’s the inner bumper then you can remove it and get it blasted and powder coated.

Bad enough that if you don't nip it in the bud, Virginia will eat that car alive.

I like it too much to drive it in the rain, let alone snow during winter, but yes I would like to address it.

Where in Va are you. There is a powder coating place in Waynesboro that does AMAZING work. Drop it off they’ll blast it and coat it and have about 3-5 day turn around. I had them do my sn95 spindles dust shields and wrought iron furniture reasonably priced they do have a minimum so if you have other parts u want done bring it all to get your money’s worth out of the minimum

Yeah but... How do you powder coat the under side of a [car] at 350 to 400 degrees for 20 minutes?
