I know I have to wash and scrub but I've tried several things and don't seem to work. I tried regular soap and scrubbing like a mofo, it helped a little bit but nothing major. I also tried that convertible top cleaner from O'Reiley and nothing. So what do you recommend to get my once black top, black again. Oh, and it's in excellent condition so I know it's not too old. It's just plain dirty. :bang:

I will tell you what I used to use,Worked Wonders! You ready......? Vasoline! I use to have a detail business and that worked better than anything and will condition your top also. Use your bare hand to apply it and rub it in good. Then let it sit a little while and then use a lint free towel to kinda wipe off and dry it.It will make the top Black and beautiful. give it a try and let me know what you think.

Will the petreloeum base of vasoline hurt the top? Also another question for you will it was off with water, i have tried a couple of different products and they all make it look great but after a good rain storm it washes out and makes a mess on the car, i too would love a solution to the black top looking like ass thanks Dan

Never had a problem. You must wipe it down after it sits a while and that will take off the excess. It is probably best also if you do it when you know it is not going to rain for a day or two, gives it a chance to set in. But as long as you wipe it down or kinda buff it after it sits a while you should be fine.Never had a problem with the petroleum in the vasoline personally. But i would only apply it 2 times a year. do a small spot and see if it will even give you any results. Now Armoral or tire dressing could dry out your top. I use Vasoline on the door seals and trunk seal every winter and they look like the day they were installed.
