how cold is your ac?

Just wondering, for those of you with ac, and preferably those who have switched to 134a.
Mine is ~ok. But im sure it should be colder. Just looking for some numbers to compare. Thanks

I only have a window unit in my bedroom, it doesn't seem to be as cold as last summer. Do you have to recharge window units as well?

heh, well i meant how cold is your ac in the mustang....
but sorry, i dont know that you have to recharge a window ac unit, or window shaker as i call em. I didnt think so... Maybe this summer is just that much hotter?

With R134 conversion, I am seeing 55-60 degrees with outside air temps in the 90's. Those are the vent temps with the thermometer stuck directly in the vent, with the fan on high and the A/C running 10-15 minutes.

Wow, that is awesome. Im looking at high 60's low 70's with those outside temps.

I should have said that those are the vent temps with the thermometer stuck directly in the vent, with the fan on high and the A/C running 10-15 minutes. Soory about the ommision.

I assumed vent temp with the compressor already running. That just makes the temp all the better.

Don't have the AC on the mustang anymore, but I just did the R134a conversion on my 88 F150. It's 43 degrees with outside temp of 88.

I have 134a in mine and it's 85° today with lots of humidity and it gets nice and cool inside my car. I don't know the exact temp, but its very comfortable and starts to get cold enough that I have to turn the fan down a notch on a 15 minute drive. Not too bad, I don't think.

After driving for 20-30 minutes my vent temps have been as low as 40 but on average hang around 45-50. This is with an R134a conversion.

I think that the average temp differential for a R134 system in good condition is about 40-45 degrees difference between inside & outside temps.

If your A/C isn't running very cold, there could be many reasons. First I would check the pressures. On a hot day, you should see at least 200psi on the high side and between 20-40 on the low side. If that is all good, and it still doesn't run too well then look at the condencer (in front or radiator) and check the temprature between the inlet and outlet, there should be a significant differece in temprature, and also, very overlooded, be sure the the line doesn't get cold until after the orifice tube. Ford condencers and evaporators can clogg easy, and so can the orifice tube. Dirt can clogg or just restrict any of these and although it may run and cool, it won't quite do the job.

werd...mine works good outta the garage, but once i park in the sun and then get back in, the interior will never cool off untill im goin for like 20 minutes....good thing my house and work have garages lol

it just ain't cold enough.. and it makes the car get up to like 245* <--- not good

My coupe was 38 degrees on the highway going around 60mph with the fan on 3. This was with R134 measured with a thermometer in the center vent.

Engine temp was 185 on the autometer.
