How common is this? (FRPP Jet Hot Headers)

I just put these on maybe 6 months ago along with a Bassani OR X Pipe, and when I was under the hood the other day, I noticed the ceramic coating is already peeling off the collector end. The flat area around the collector the ceramic is all flaked off, but still on there, but I could pull of a 2" piece or so if I wanted.

Has anyone had to send theirs back to jet hot? I have no spare headers so how is that handled?

:nonono: :nonono:

They say don't break in a new motor with ceramic headers, did you? You haven't been running lean, have you? Timing too slow?

Open the hood immediately after blasting down the highway at night at 70mph for 15 minutes. Are those tubes orange?

I have the BBK long tubes coated and they are about a year old, they haven't started peeling but they have started rusting. My buddy has a set on a 98 cobra and they also are rusting. I just think if you buy them coated it's a cheap coating compared to like sending them off and letting jet hot coat them. My dad has set he sent to jet hot on a 69 GTX with 440, it puts off more heat than the little 302's do and they still look like new.

I have had a set of the FRPP jet hot coated headers on for about a year now and they need to be polished but otherwise look great. I might be mistaken but I thought that they have a lifetime warrenty on them. It sucks to have to pull them off and all. You might look around for a set of stock headers for a stop gap if you do have to pull them off. The stockers can usually be had for little to no money.

My FMS Coated Headers have been on for about 5 or 6 years now, the is rust around the collector where it bolts up to my Bassani X Pipe and also there is small rusty pitting marks on the header tubes too.

Thanks guys. No, the motor is not leaning out, and my headers are not getting super hot. It's probably the salt if anything...I drive my stang all year even in these New England winters.

90% of the headers still look great, it's just the flat area at the collector it looks like two big pieces are ready to flake off...kinda like when you get rust underneath paint.

They did come with a lifetime warranty and paperwork from Jet Hot. I bought these to replace some old POS BBK ceramic coated shorties thinking they were better, and they are actually having problems way earlier than my BBK ones ever did. It seems like 6 months is a really short time for the supposed lifetime coating to start giving up the ghost...

Dont bother with the "Lifetime Warranty" nothing cosmetic is covered, it has to rust completely through and have holes in it before they will do anything!

Really? I wonder if I could return them through Summit. I mean they are barely 6 months old and the coating is flaking off in large chunks??

I bought mine through Saleen and they sent me a copy out of the Ford Racing Catalog that says the Jet Hott Ceramic Coating has only complete rust through Warranty.

That's pretty lame. It would take forever for the stainless material to rust through. Makes me glad I got the uncoated svo shorties.
