Hi, well I have never removed a engine. Is it somthing I can do? I didn't to any tech school either.

the benefit I have on my side is that the car is totaled and I can break anything I have to. There is no front end. the radiator and the frame holding it it going. basically everything infront of the intake manifold is gone.

I would like to know how many bolts do I need to remove? any special tools I need. how much time?

also, before you ask. I am selling it to a friend.

any info is appreciated. thanx

I would say you don't have much mechanical experience, Its not an easy job for a noob, but its not hard, if u no what to do. All you need is abviously a engine lift,a full socket set and wrenches, worklight, rags etc . If theres no front end then you can just slide the whole engine and trans assembly out from the front.

Take pictures/mark all the lines, wireing connections. It will make things alot easier when you put the engine back in.

The best I have ever done on pulling the motor was 3.5hrs, from the time I pulled in the driveway to bolting the motor to the stand. After 8hrs I had replaced the oil pump, installed the motor and drove away. Keep in mind I have lost count of how many times I've pulled the motor.
There is nothing real challenging to pulling the motor, but there are many things to think about.

If you plan on using the motor in another car, take tons of pics, as suggested by onefstsnake.

You'll also need some way of safely getting the front of the car well up into the air -- to disconnect things underneath and such. A good jack and jack stands.

We just got done replacing an engine in a Mazda 929 and even after disconnecting a ton of wires and hoses we still managed to rip a few things off that werent disconnected.

Taking as many accesories off before pulling the motor will help as well.

But since there is no front on the car it should be pretty simple.
