I got tired of waiting for the car lift to show up so I pulled the motor and trans on Sunday. I have decided to not use the "heater tube assembly" which connects to the front of the upper intake manifold and goes back to the firewall and attaches to the little small bendy black hoses that go to heater core.

I don't care if my summer daily driver/race car has heat or not. So how do I block off the hole in the upper intake and the one tube that comes out of the water pump that connected to the heater tube assembly?

Is this a good idea or am I making a big mistake? I have pics I will try to put up. I went to NAPA and got a brass plug for the top hole in the upper intake, I think this will work. Has anyone else come across this little mod?

Thanks,
Ben

I have been looking through the 200 mustang mags that I have and there is a small picture of a piece of hose and a clamp on the waterpump outlet, sort of like a nipple. Can I say that?

It's ether a 5/8" or 3/4" rubber cap, that you slip over the fitting and use a hose clamp to seal it off.

you'd be better off removing the steel tube that the hose attaches to and taping the hole left behind for a pipe plug, but the cap will work.

The cap you seek is available at most parts stores in the " help " section. Help is the brand name. The package is red. If I was at the shop I could give you a part #. If you really want to be baller get the Edelbrock high flow pump. The holes are tapped so you can put a pipe plug in to block them off.

Tricks of the trade my friend, tricks of the trade! You have to come over and look at all the stuff I just bought for the Notch. I'm over my head and lovin' it.

you could use the sensor in the tube to plug up the hole, but it'd be better to run the hose into the manifold.
