How do I get this tranny to bell bolt off?

Im using the normal 6 point 15 mm for this bad boy but it seems I can only get enough on it to want to strip it.

I've tried swivels and super long extension but this sucker is just in a bad spot.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this bolt, heck i've fighting with this one bolt for over 6 hours.

Here are a few pic of which bolt im talking about.

It's a 3/4" most likely. That's what I use.

I managed to get all the other bolts that hold it except for this last one.

Outside of the socket size question can you think of a good way to get to it with it being in such a PITA location?

Should I think about removing the entire bellhousing instead if it's easier?

3/4" is about the same as a 19mm, not 15. i would say thats out. try a 9/16" thats pretty close to a 15mm.

15mm 6 point, you will need a swivel and about 14 inch's worth of extension's. ONCE you get it started backing out then use your fingers or a wrench........i usually use an impact!

im having the same problem with mine, my impact gun is only running at about 80 psi cuz my compressor sucks, is that gonna be enough?

It's alot easier to take the tranny off before the bellhousing. Like everyone else said try the different sizes. I'm pretty sure the bolts from the tranny to the bellhousing and the bolts from the bellhousing to the block are different sizes. I didn't use an impact on mine. Use a universal(swivel) and extensions like others said.

my tranny bolts are 15mm, ive tryed everything to get them broken loose, impact gun, breaker bar, and swivels, all along with penetrating fluid. anything else i could do? im startin to stress and is *****in with my head

I used a 1/2 " drive socket and ratchet along with big metal pipe from the floor jack as a breaker bar. Seemed to work well on stubborn bolts.

They do make combo wrenches! get a 15mm, use the closed side and tap the wrench upward until it breaks loose. Then take it out however you want. 80 PSI on an impact is dangerous. Don't use that to put tires on!. I run mine up to 120 to remove bolts or lug nuts. If you can't get a bolt out with an impact, stop. You will just round it off and end up having to have it cut out. Think before stripping. If your on the floor, have fun. Not having a lift sucks.

yeah, i dont have a lift, and it sucks bad, i dont use the impact gun for tires i use a torque wrench, and ive tryed putting a closed end wrench on the bolts to get them off. anything else i can try?

dude, if it's that stubborn and it absolutely won't come, yank the trans and bell out together and deal with that bolt when the trans is off the car.

I still have to make a quick visit to the auto parts store to get all the swivels, and extensions I would need for this sucker entirely.

Jmd: You might try jacking up a portion of the transmission in an effort to relieve some of the pressure on that one bolt.

Extensions and swivels is how I've always done it.

But if you just can't then do like v8only said and pull the tranny and bellhousing at the same time.

i thought head expanded things? and i tried jacking up the tranny to relive the pressure, thanks for the suggestion though. so its ok to pull the bellhousing and tranny together?

if you heat the bolt it helps to break it loose. thats what i always do and it always works for me

Yes, it is OK. This is how I usually do it.
