how do I heat up a harmonic balancer??

Hey all -

I just ordered a new harmonic balancer. I did some research today and I read a post where someone said that by heating up a harmonic balancer it was very easy to install. I was just wondering how to do this??

I think mom would be pissed if I baked it on high at 350 for 9-10 minutes.

OT - Last week the car ran beautiful. This week I am out 360 bucks on a new clutch, flywheel, and balancer

Well I've only known to use heat on a Romac balancer. If that's the one you got then put it in the oven for 10 minutes, 425 degrees. Right from the oven put it on the car. Use oven mits or you will have the timing numbers burned into your palms.

All you need is a bit of bearing grease and some silicone to seal the keyway and it will go right on while using the bolt to snug it on... I wouldn't bake the stock style one (rubber holding it on) you'll make the rubber brittle and probably damage it in the process...

Mine slid right on, but Horse Power TV just did a segment on a 99 Mustang and they place the balancer in hot water for 20 minutes. My guess is to bring a boil to the water and place the balancer in. Then remove.
