How do i hook up speedhut gauges

I have these speedhut gauges that i got on e-bay. They only have two wires that get hooked up but i am no sure where. One is red (12v?) the other is black (ground?) I of course expect these gauges to operate like normal so how do i go about hooking them up. I have not yet taken the dash apart as I first want to figure this out. any help appreicated

not for sure but i would think the red wire needs to be a hot only when the lights are turned on so it would have to go to the light switch hot wire. the black is ground.

I have Speedhut gauges. Mine came with the "hot" wire with a two-wire splice on it. That is, the "hot" wire from the gauges was already spliced into, and all you had to do was identify was the car's hot wire (in my case the infamous brown wire on the headlight switch assembly), then close the splice on it. Done.

My problem has been the ground wire. Without a good grounded screw to connect the ground wire to, I soldered it to the chasis bar behind the gauges. This worked very well for quite a while ... up until yesterday when I think the solder came loose. Not to hijack the thread, but I'd be interested to know what everyone else does for the ground wire.

Did your kit come with the long black wire with various connectors along it? Not sure about everone else, but I had to connect mine to the gauges. If that's not present, than your screwed because that's what hooks into the knob deal that allows you to adjust the brightness and change the color. Than you have the hot wire and ground wire as stated above.

yes I received the wiring harness for the gauges. For now i have it pluged into my fuse block and it seems to be working. I'll post some pictures later.For the ground I put a spade terminal on the end and loosened a bolt and re-tigntened it with the spade underneath. That's how we basically do it on aircraft and it works fine in the car. I will have to look into the headlight switch though because i would much rather have the power coming from there. Thanks.......

For my hot wire, i used the "brown" wire as well

For the ground, i used the bolt on the right side of the chassis bar behind the gauge cluster. I unscrewed it a bit, then stripped about 2" of wire and wrapped it around the bolt behind the plastic. Then i screwed the botl back in tighly and the plastic compressed the wire against the chassis brace tightly. Easy ground right there
