I think Michael Yount has been trying to eliminate the drone in his volvo for a while now.. not sure where he's at now but i'm sure i remember reading about how many different muffler/resonator combo's he's tried!

Michael went with a dual exhaust and resonator(s) for a Boss 429 from MU (or something like that) last time we chatted about it. He seemed very happy with it, however it was (Like Mav, I cant keep his combos straight).

Dumb question but are you sure you don't have a hole in your exhaust/muffler. that is crazy loud to be just idling. I love the drone in tunnels.......... (hits@1700 rpms) I agree--sweet thread. unequal length mufflers, the physics is there, that is how DaimlerBenz and all the high class crowd cancel road noise with baffles, etc, etc.

something is definatly wrong there.. it shouldnt be that loud at idle, unless of course your wearing hearing aids and the volume is jacked right up.

Along the same lines as unequal lengths, longtubes got rid of my drone.

I would deffinately say you have a problem somewhere. On the 331 in my car I have almost the exact setup, bbk shorties to h to 2 chamber flows, and the only drone is when moderately on the throttle like 2k to 3k or so, but yours sounds much louder even when idling, so I would suspect something is wrong.

Longtubes also solved my drone problem.

I'm using 3 mufflers for zero drone. One mid mount dual-in dual-out Magnaflow with tru-x core and two cheap imco turbo mufflers out back. My car is a tbird so I don't know if that setup would fit under a Mustang well.

Everyone loved the way it sounded without the turbo mufflers but that lost too much torque on a stock motor and was way too loud. The drone was also unbearable.

my car is crazy loud at idle too..but i have dumps. The noise/vibrations bounce off the ground and right back up at the car making the whole thing hum/gurgle. Not much you can do without trying something extensive like longtubes, new muffs, or trying that different length thing...but im not sure if thats going to work for u
