Help a newb out. Where am I supposed to aim the timing gun to get an initial timing measurement? (pic would help).

I got the grey plug pulled and warmed the car up. But I am so green, I don't know where the timing marks are.

Please help.

Look down at the balancer (front of the crank, behind the pulley, all the way at the bottom of the engine) from the passenger side, and you will (should) see a metal pointer. Aim the timing gun at that. Depending on the condition of your balancer you should be able to read the timing then. It can be a little tricky if your balancer is really rusty, so finding zero manually and marking it with a paint pen might be necessary.
