I think the reason more GT guys aren't going this route is as you and I both agree….that most haven't the skill, or the means to fabricate their own manifolds and brackets from scratch. I mean....you don't see a lot of custom built twin screw kits either. Once the manifold has been designed, and built adapting a particular blower is the easy part. And that tends to be where most Eaton based kits fall short….the big problem with the M112 isn't the blower itself, but the manifold it's attached to.
Kenne Bell mates their Screw Compressors to a very well designed high flow intake manifold. So well designed as a matter of fact, that as a result, manifold pressure drops across the board instead of stacking up within the system like it does with a lot of the Eaton based kits. By reducing manifold restriction, they're able to make more power with less backpressure and heat. That’s why it makes me chuckle every time I see people compare horsepower per/psi when pitting different style kits against one and other. Boost pressure is irrelevant; it’s total airflow that counts. Big inlets, large diameter strait runners, smooth gradual radius’s, increase plenum volume all play a part on how much “boost” you’re gong to see on the gauge. Not just the style/size of the blower and how fast you spin it. Kenne Bell is well aware of this fact as well, but they don’t make it apparent in their sales pitches and comparisons because they’re betting on the fact that the consumer doesn’t and comparing boost figures is easier to sell and looks better on paper.
I'm not trying to convince anyone that an Eaton would be a better choice from a power making perspective over the twin screw…..I’m well aware that it isn’t and contesting the fact would be a fruitless argument, but it certainly wouldn't be the waste of time some less informed individuals might have you believe.....especially if you're starting from scratch and working within a specific budget.
