Hi! I want to remove my wipers for a cleaner look when it's not raining. I've seen some stangs without wipers and they look clean. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Do I just pry them off because I think they're pressed into a mini spline? Thanks in advance.

They are not pressed on. You bend the arm back. There is a clip on the arm next to the shaft. As you bend it back (dont break it) lift the tab with a scredriver or pliers. It will pull right off then.

After you lift the tab you let the wiper go back down and it will hold the tab up. Then remove the wiper.

Don't feel bad I scratched my head and looked at mine for 30 minutes before I figured it out the first time.

Most of the time they come off without a screwdriver -- but if they are really stuck on there and you want to use one -- be VERY careful. It is easy to slip off and gouge your paint. I would suggest protecting it with a towel or something. After that though, they should go on and off without anything more than your fingers -- especially if you do it often.

When I changed my wiper motor, I had to take the cowl panel off to get in there, so in turn I had to take the wipers off. I took them off no problem but the biggest damn spider came out of my wiper arm. I hate damn spiders.

Damn! I have arachnophonbia. I got the chills right now. I wonder how that spider survived the climate on that cowl, usually they like to live unmolested, pretty odd. Did you have your car sitting for a long time?

It had been sitting for a little bit, I was putting my exhaust and Alt on and a few little things. I was driving it down the road after that, and there was a big spider behind the mirror on my side that crawled out. I got bad luck with spiders.

Well taking the wipers was a sinch. I just did what you guys told me and they came right off. I didn't need a screwdriver just man power.

I had never thought of rainex. I think I'll try it out. It's been raining alot down here in so cal but I think I'll go getsum tomorrow.

If a big o spider came out like that on me I'd probably be all over the road in shock causing an accident. I think a couple of times a small spider came out on me inside the drivers side window but i just opened the window and they flew out. Scary!

If your are going to just use Rainex and keep your wipers off, at least throw the wipers in the back seat or keep them with you. Ya never know sometimes...

Rain-Ex is

The only problem with it is that you'll only remember that you need to re-treat the windshield when it starts to rain.

If you're going to go without wipers, then you'd better remember to re-apply Rain-Ex every week or two (more often if it rains alot). Also remember that Rain-Ex is not as effective in traffic where you're getting a lot of fine spray off other vehicles.

I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles with Rain-Ex, but I would not recommend relying on it alone. You WILL find times where you will need wipers too.
