How do I route gauge wires thru firewall?

I guess this sort of a newb question. Sine I figured out that my stock guages and the autometer cluster is useless for oil pressure, volts, and water temp I want real guages.

I will use Autometer Phantoms (electric) with a triple full a pillar. I've seen the threads that show the location for the oil pressure sender, but I haven't seen the water temp location or volts.

My questions are:

1. I have no idea where to route the signal wires so I can get them to the pillar. I am assuming I have to go through the fire wall, so is there a preferred location to do that? And how big of a hole do I need? I'm also assuming the steel will be tough to drill through.

2. If there is only one location for the water temp sender and I disconnect the original will it trip an error code?

Thanks in advance

there are two wire harnesses that go through the firewall behind the drivers side dash, just crawl up under the pedals and take a look with a flashlight. if yyou are a big guy, just give up now and pay a kid to do it... seriously, its a tight space to get to without removing the dash.

when i ran the power cable for my amps i had to drill as there was no hole large enough for my size cable. i drilled above and to the right of the clutch pedal where it attached to the sheet metal. always drill a tiny pilot hole, just barely going through, and shine a flashlight through it to mnake sure you are not drilling into anything bad... like brake lines.
