How do I run a PCV system on a boosted application?

My head is spinning with the amount of opinions on how to run a PCV system on a supercharged 5.0.

I have heard to run catch cans, valve cover breathers , running a line from the inlet side of the blower to the valve cover and many more.

All of these ideas make some sense, but Im not convinced.

I was a sucker and bought a steeda oil seperator kit, however, now that I have done my homework, I realize the simple equation for a pcv valve. When the boost cranks up, crankcase pressures rise....opening the pcv check valve. OK...
Now what about the boost levels in the manifold, sky high! That check valve isnt budging!! Good luck getting any correct pressure relief from the crankcase (unless your ok with your rear main being your breather).

If anyone has run a successful PCV setup on a supercharged 5.0 Please share!

I run a PCV valve with an air/oil seperator on my car. Then I run a breather / catch can that connects to the pass. side valve cover where the oil cap used to be. Or you can just use one of the breathers that screws in place of the oil cap, but they tend to get oil-soaked after a while.You are correct that the PCV is completely useless when under boost. You need to be sure that the valve you run is one-way, otherwise you will pressurize your crankcase with boost. Just trying blowing in the small end, you shouldn't be able to. I don't recommend using an oil cap. Under boost all that excess crankcase pressure has no where to go except out of small hose that runs from the valve cover to your powerpipe or air cleaner. Too much crankcase pressure will lead to blown seals and oil leaks. Before I switched to a breather my car would pop the dipstick out of the tube and spray oil everywhere, not good. Some folks don't run a PCV at all, and just run breathers. I used to run a small one that fit right into the PCV valve grommet. I prefer to run a PCV though because it heps suck fuel vapors from the crankcase, breathers won't do that for you. Here's some pics, hope this helps

Yeah i got my pcv valve still hooked up, also run a filter on my valve cove where the oil cap use to be, and got a hose running to the oil filler pipe side outlet on the passenger side valve covers, so far so good. Got a filter at the end of the hose. So far no blown out dip sticks.

Use to run hose from oil filler pipe side outlet to the inlet of the supercharger, that worked to, gotta use the oil cap so u don't suck air threw the engine and also the mass air meter gets a reading from it also, (not sure how true that is). Had to buy another dipstick, mine was to loose, that helped.

my friend had used a pcv valve from a Supra on his t-trimed notch, not sure the difference or what it did different but ive heard other people used em too

Not a PVC system, but I am just running a breather at the VC, and a hollowed out PCV valve with a length of hose and a small breather on the end of it. No issues here.

I am starting to think to run breathers on the valve covers and run a hose to a catch can from the stock pcv location, and then to my powerpipe, this SHOULD in turn suck fresh air from the valve covers through the engine and pull it all out while also removing the oil. Does anyone agree or disagree with this idea?

The powerpipe is perssurized isn't it?

Perhaps 3 breathers would work, one on each cover, and one at the pcv location.

I would put a check valve on the pcv valve, and run an inlet to the crankcase from pre boost (near the air filter).
I think this is the *proper* way to do it, as it retains the closed pcv system.

well powerpipe is pre-SC so Id figure it would create a vaccuum effect on the crankcase ..... right?..... anyone?

Jason hit the NAIL on THE HEAD - IT is that simple! Check valve on PCV line and run a line from the pass VC to the power pipe after the meter before the TB - DONE

I can't say for sure, but I can't see much of a vac signal coming from this setup...

im basically trying at all costs to avoid sucking oil into the supercharger inlet.... call me paranoid i guess
