Hi, i searched and got many of my answers. My friend is building my motor and rear for me. He has been really backed up and i want to do as much to the car as i can. He is building my rear but i would like to take out the gears and posi unit. Here are my questions

1. Does the car have to be on the lift, i can get under with a creeper and i would like to try it that way.
2. If the car is on the floor will removing the posi unit and gears make the axels have nothing to hold them so they fall out? i would like the axels to stay in so i can still push the car around.
3. anyother safety tips is greatly appreciated, i dont want to install it but it would save time if i took those items out. thanks

first of all no you can't do it with just sliding under the car with a creeper. you have to have the car atleast supported on jackstands, and your axles have to be pulled out of your differential which requires tires being off the car and c-clips removed and spider gears are invloved, so I wouldn't recommend you diong anything to it. if your friend is going to be doing your rearend for you in his garage or shop, then just wait because once you start tearing things a part your car isn't mobile anymore, and well your friend is going to have to take measurements and check backlash on the new gearset and posi unit once it's installed and he's gonna need the car there to install it.
