How do I tell what type of limited slip unit I have?

Apparently my limited slip clutches are fried (to be expected when I bought the diff used) and I'm looking for a rebuild kit but I don't know what type I have.

It's for an 8" rear end.

How do I tell?

Hmm, I might have to take a small road trip. Oh well, I'm the kind guy that likes to drive to Burlington to get some Krispy Kreme doughnuts

Post some pics. If it is a Ford one, I believe the area around the ring gear bolt heads will be cut away. I dont know about after market ones though. If it is a Ford, it should have a part # visible some where. Any dealer should be able to hook you up with that.

I'll try and get some pictures of it asap. The rear end is actually at the family mechanic's place right now.
