How do I unclip the Rear view mirror?

93 lx 5.0 had the mirror fall off and cant seem to get it back up with the weight of the whole mirror there. It looks like the aluminum part that glues to the windows unclips and slides out some how but I cant seem to get it to come off. Any one know how to get the two seperated without a sawsall?

I think how it works is that that plate is glued to the window and then an allen key goes from the mirror base to the metal. Thats how mine is cause I jsut tightened it this morning.

Some Ford units don't have the allen head screw they are pressure fit. You will see a notch at the mirroe mount and the aluminum glue plate. Push a nail or something into the hole and it will pressure release the mirror tab. Scrap with a razor blade and glue on with loctite mirror glue then slide the mirroe back on the tab.

if allen key, use it, otherwise do what speedystang said, or just hold it up there longer, like 15 mins i think it said when i did mine.
