Im posting pics of my heads, so please help me and tell me if they look okay.. If anything is noticeable please point it out.. I know the heads arent off the car i plan on doing that tonite so i will post more pics

The ports are not smooth, i was thinking they were ported since the gasket line is almost an exact fit over each port.. Also there is yellow on the valve, doest that mean anything?

This last pic is where the bold rounded off, The bolt chewed through all my Good bits[last resort was wood bits]

Will post better pics

everything just looks filthy. I would take the time to clean things up while you are in there. As for the head ports themselves...port work would be fairly evident. It doesnt look any different from a stock head port to me. Stock rockers and all.

You really want to make sure you clean out all that coolant and clean that lifter valley really well before you put everything back together. And change your oil after the first short time you run it. good luck man.

I scuffed , cleaned and painted the valve covers w/ engine enamel ford blue and did the same thing to the upper, but gloss black. I am going to get all the gunk out of the heads.. All build up and grime that you can easily see..i picked up a new pcv valve and am changeing the vacuum lines.. I want perfection and i will post pics of everything when im done

Don't forget to change the oil after you are done. I can't quite tell is the bolt still there? If so a wood bit is not a good idea. Maybe try a reverse bit. The other idea is to get a better set of drill bits. Harder so that you can drill through the bolt.

Thats the exact bolt that broke off on me. I had to drill it out with a carbide bit and helicoil it

I had to do the head gaskets on my heap last winter and i found that i'd been driving with a broken head bolt for god knows how long...didn't even notice it. I ended up making a 3am trip to Walmart to buy a propane torch to heat up the 1/2 of bolt that was left sticking out of the block and then vice grip'ed it and eventually got it out. I'd say a torch is your best bet. I'd go with map gas though, it burns hotter.

If you got a MIG welder you can get that bolt out easy.

Well thats pretty dirty, the minimum I would do is take the heads off and have them cleaned and checked if work is needed on them. At least put a towel or something over the valley or you may need more work than originally planned, not a good place to store tools with bits of metal on them from drilling. I'd probably investigate the front cover area for oil leaks and reseal it(cheap to do) but you run the risk of more bolt problems. Thats just me I hate leaks.

You can only see down one port and it looks like crap how did the car run when it was running. If you went that far you should go and pull the heads off. Get them rebuilt or start reading everything you can about doing it yourself.

that port looks like shiet because of all the metal shaveing and wd-40.. all the ports are pretty clean with no build up or gunk.. and is down to bare metal..

this is a classic example of why re-torquing the lower intake multiple times after heat cycles is a "best practice". water over times seeps into the bolt cavity and corrodes the bolt to the point it won't take the force to back it out and it snaps off.
