How do you degree in a cam??

My dad and i are going to put a cam in my car and we were wondering how do you set the degree on the cam so it will be right???

Is it an FTI cam or a cam that is supposed to be degreed? If not, I would leave it alone. It's more helpful for you to give us information like what type of cam is being used and what the application is.

Install it straight up. Advancing or retarding the cam would create more headaches than help.

I'd suggest doing it, I just did mine dot-to-dot, and it was 4° off. How the cam is degreed also effects piston to valve clearance.
