I'm not saying you shouldn't, it's just that i've been preparing to sell my car and i just can't do it.

I won't get into my reasons for selling or what i'm selling it for, but for the last year i've been thinking of selling it and the last month i have decided to do it.

The problem is I just can't bring myself to taking off certain mods, officially putting it up for sale and watching punk tire-kickers come and abuse my car which i've never let anyone drive in the 3 years i've owned it. I also can't bear to see someone local buy it and abuse it as i've pampered it, washed and waxed and vacuumed the hell out of it every weekend to the point where it's clean as new.

I gotta do it, but i'm going to hate every minute of the process.

No i won't be replacing it with another Mustang. I have my '88 5.0 to play with. One Mustang is enough.

I thought you meant you couldnt find a buyer going by the thread title.

This sounds like alot more like a personal problem...but in the most polite way not trying to be an ass or anything. I did have someone that wanted to by my 00' GT. It had probably 90k or so on it at the time, and I probably could have gotten around 12 to 13k out of him cause he loves it so much. But, knowing the way he drives I'd hate to see it driven to the ground in a couple months.

Yeah i guess it is more of a personal problem.

I should have just said how do you sell something you've become so attached to??

Guess i'll need to figure that out on my own though.

Its very hard to do sometimes. To me cars are like women. You say you will never get tired of this one and then you find something else thats better, you end up saying goodbye and move on to better things.

My first car was my 88, I learned how to drive in that car, took my drivers test in it. It was my baby for 8 years, going from a slow bone stock stang to the beast of a money pit it was before I sold it. It was hard to let it go, but I had my new love which was my cobra, and I had just bought a brand new 05 tundra double cab about 6 months before. So pretty much the car just sat in the garage and I drove it maybe once a month. I felt like it was just wasting away so I took off as much parts as possible and sold it local dealership close to where I live that specializes in selling mustangs. I had previously sold my 91 there two years before. No dealing with tire kickers and stupid kids wanting to drive it, just money in my hand and I was on my way.

I have friends who've been through nearly 10 cars while I've owned the same Mustang for the past five years. Some of them HAVE to own the newest and hottest thing out there while others just get bored with their "toys" very quickly and move on to other things.

I know what you mean... I had a resolution with myself after the huge accident that nearly totaled off this stang (after totaling my GTS off after having it plated 3 days... stupid ricers racing, had me in a head on collision with two of them)
I was planning on selling it if I was hit again... I was, twice. Once rear ended, which I got new exhaust from, and once a woman backed into me...

I was planning on getting a mystic cobra with the next accident... but I just can't part with my car... I can't bear to see some kid driving it around, abusing it...

I can completely relate.

Its a car, there are hundreds of thousands of mustangs out there.

The only car I would get emotional about is if I had an 03-04 Cobra and was forced o sell it.

One is never enough. I have 2 now and just plan to add more as I get older and can afford it.

Looks like everyone has attachment issues...are you all women? JFW everyone lmao....

If someone offered me the right amount of cash for mine right now I would take the cash and run. My car has its memories but its just a car.....besides why not upgrade while I'm at it?

I'm actually in this predicament as well, except I dont know what I want. I would so love to have a GTO or LS1 F-Body, but I love 5.0 Coupes. But I want something the way I would like it and in the condition I can afford, so time will be waiting until the right car comes along.

That's me. I've already got a 93 Notch with $3000 worth of go fast parts that haven't been put on yet.

I love my 01, but let's face it. It's costing me too much money in gas, insurance, payment. It's GREEN. I hate green. It's automatic. I don't like auto's.

I'll miss it so much though

It's only got 41k on it and half of those miles are mine. Oh who am I kidding the wife wants it gone before the baby's born

That's my '88 as well. I have a pile of parts as big as the car waiting to go on. One money pit is enough.

The '03 is a sharper looking car with a better interior and modern comforts, but the Fox is just raw and made to go fast.

I have a nice replacement selected for my '03 GT. I just need to pull the trigger and set things into motion...and it's been tough so far.

I would have never sold my fox, but then I found a '02 gt I had to have... bought it and the old fox just looked like $$ for new stuff on the new car.

Probably how most poeple end up selling their cars...

ps. the guy that sold me his GT was doing so because of kids, probably the #1 reason they are sold

I can so relate to how all of you feel.

After much thought I almost sold my stang about a year ago to another stangnet member, Joe (Baxter). I was getting married in a couple of months, needed to unload some debt and get a few bucks. It broke my heart, but I figured I would always pick up an '03 cobra sometime after the wedding and got my finances straigthened out. Upon delivering the car the tranny let go! Well that was the deal breaker, lol.

But the funny thing is, I look at it as my car didn't want me to sell her! I ended up spending more money to rebuild the tranny and decided to keep it. Months later my (now also my wife's) Mustang was part of our wedding, in our photos, and we drove off in it after the reception with streamers and "Just Married" written on the windows. Shortly after the honeymoon, got the Goose from MPH, and haven't looked back again at getting a Cobra anymore.

Now with our 1 year anniversary coming up next week, the Mustang is getting proper 10.5" wide deep dish Mach I wheels to handle all that power I'm making now. What to get my wife......I haven't decided yet!
