How do you replace couping disc?

Im putting on the rack and pinion everything is off the coupling disc is missing i bought one from the parts store but now it wont fit and there are rivets where its supposed to go into. I cant take the rivet screws off is there a way or is this piece supposed to be bought somewhere.

There are several sizes of rag joint coupler available, so you need to take the old one, or measure the hole spacing.

Then, just grind or drill out the rivets and install the new one with bolts. It's more time consuming than you would think, but it can be done. I think I had to grind the bolt heads for clearance on one of the last ones that I did.

Maybe get ahold of a Dremel and grind or cut those rivets out?
