Hi all,

I finally got my new wheels V-40s and 225/50/16 tires. I drove it and it feels like its wandering around alot. Which is what I thought the new tires would fix. SO i'm wondered if they were rubbing and I think they might be. I read before that you may have to 'roll fenders' to fix the rubbing problem.

How do you exactly 'roll fenders'? Is it just bending them out abit so they aren't so close to the tire? I needed fix this problem cuz its kinda dangerous how it drives. I don't feel safe driving it like it is right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

yes that is what it is......some use a bat, saves paint a bit however you can, just bend the lip a bit.

if your car is already painted, i dont suggest you do it. Usually it will take more than a bat for the 1/4 panel

what BS are your wheels? You shouldnt be rubbing at all.

You could trim a little of the lip off

they are V-40s. So 4.5" backspacing. it only rubs when i hit a bump. whenever the suspension is compressed. i think it rubs alittle bit on the lip on the inside of the fender i believe.

If there is little room to fit a bat jack the frame up a bit behind the wheel to make the wheel drop some so the bat fits.....may or may not damage the paint. Be Cautious.

I bent the lip up with some plyers, Vice grips work well too. To avoid the paint from chipping I covered the flares with masking tap, make sure its on well press it in nice and tight. I also used a hammer to get the metal tucked all the way up. Worked well and no more rubbing.

okay, i tried bending up alittle bit and it started to crack the paint. Did the masking tape work well? or was there still some cracking? i'll try masking it and see what happens

The tape worked well for me. Dont bend it all the way up the first time. Start by bending it up a little bit at a time and skipping around the entire wheel. Then join all the bends together and go farther up.
