How do you tell a GTS...

For GTS Info, check out Hillie's site...

http://www.hillie16.stangnet.com/

Almost all options from a GT can be installed on a GTS by the dealer or aftermarket. The only guaranteed way (IMO) you can tell if it's a GTS is the seats. My GTS has the GT sport seats, but they're in fabric rather than leather. To get leather seats, you had to get a GT.

Check the door jamb sticker. If it's a 95, the Interior Trim code will tell you if the car came from the factory with fabric seats. Write down the code, and search the web for it. I can also check the code from my Ford manual if you need it. If the code says fabric seats, you have a 95 GTS on your hands. :D

BTW, I'm selling my 16" waffle rims. If there's any interest in them, I'll put up a classified ad or something.

Question, sort of off topic.

I know that the GTS' were only made in 95...

I have a very odd 96 GT.

Came with:
no fogs
cloth seats
no cruise
no lights in mirrors
no power seats

and I think thats about it. Was there something like a GTS for 96?

The GT fabric seats are sorta like tweed, the V6 are more like velour.

Agreed, the GT fabric is coarse, and you can see the weave in the fabric. The V6 seats are also rather flat, and don't have adjustable side supports to keep you from sliding all over the seat. I never realized how much I slid on my V6's seat until I bought my GTS - wow!

(I have two 'stangs - a 94 V6 and a GTS)

The GT seats also have adjustable lumbar support, which helps make the seats more comfortable.

in 96 i think they made what was called a 248A package, similar to a GTS but not quite. thats probably what you have

What I meant was between the GT and the v6/GTS since a few people said a GT# is a V6 model with the 5.0, obviously its not

I see what you're saying. No, the GTS got the GT suspension but honestly, the only difference I can think of between V6 and V8 suspension is the front spring rate. To the best of my knowledge, they both use the same sway bars (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

As mentioned, that's a 248A car. Basically, in 96 Ford dropped the GTS designation. You could get the exact same option package (stripped) but it was no longer called the GTS; it was refered to as a regular GT. For the record, the ONLY year of the GTS was 95.

A better way to describe a GTS is a GT stripped down to the V6 options. All the performance options are there, but the extras are not.

I can't remember the last time I looked under a 6 but I'm pretty sure they did. If I get a chance, I'll pop under one of the sixers at work and see what's up.

My 94 V6 did not come with a strut tower brace, though it had the holed drilled and tapped for one. We have front and rear sway bars as well, though I'm not sure how thick they are.

I'm confused. I just bought a 95 GT(or GTS) but I'm not sure which. The title says GTS but I have every option inculding leather seats. Is it possible the title is wrong?

BTW, is this a good deal?
95 GT w/54000 miles
Edelbrock intake, 70mm Edlebrock TB, 77mm ProFlow bullet MAF, MAC CAI, MAC headers, MAC high flow cats, MAC catback, Eibach springs, New Bullit rims and tires, Pro5.0 shifter, Alum driveshaft, some unknown lumpy cam, new FMS cluth.

All this for $5300

Thanks,
