How do you test a starter if you think its putting out to many amps?

Well i posted about a month ago about my starter solenoid sticking all the time. Went and bought a brand new Ford solenoid, it stuck first try. I had a problem with my car not starting when it was hot, so i replaced the starter probably a week before this solenoid BS started! If i yank the starter off can autozone test it to see if its putting out to many volts? My buddy has a 91 also, and ive "borrowed" his ignition switch and lock cylinder just to see if it fixed the problem and no its hasnt.

A starter doesn't "put out" any amps. Or volts. Or anything electrical. It consumes electricity and puts out torque.

A starter can output electricity (Inductance), but we know that's not what was meant here.

A decent bench-test should be able to test power consumption.

Do you still have an OEM Ford starter?

Ive actually got a guy coming over who is really good with electrical diagnosis to cover that, because its foreign to me! But ive printed it out for him so he can check everything you covered!
