Hey guys I need to relocate one of my 02 Sensors to get my exhaust to fit right.:D I am wondering how far is to far down? I need to move it about an inch or two down stream. So it is not a drastic change from where they are now, I have plenty of slack in the factory wiring. Comments?

The ones before the cats i guarantee will get hot enough to work, because the cats have to get hot enough to work too. The one's after the cats don't need to be so hot. Are those the ones you want to move?

No. You do need to keep the O2 sensors in proximity to the motor.

I think your question was "How close do they really need to be"

Think of it like this. Take a look at where your Catalytic converters are now.

Your Catalytic converters need to get just as hot, if not hotter than your O2 sensors. So, you are safe to put your O2 sensors just as far away as your CAT's are. Any farther than that is a gamble. If you keep your CATs. You can know for certain that -if- your O2 stays -infront- of the CATs, the O2's -will- get hotter than the CAT's, which is hot enough.

If you remove your CATs. Keep in mind how close they were while they were installed. If you keep your O2s in that range, you will be fine.

1-2 inches should not make any difference...... I considered doing this on the 94 as well - my pass. O2 almost hits the frame rail.

Good luck.

Yea same issue with longtubes. I have mine in the collector with no issues, was worried at first but car runs perfect. As said a couple inches definately will not matter.
