How far to drive pilot bearing in?

I was wondering how far to drive the pilot bearing in during replacement. It's going in a 90 GT. Thanks for your help.

everyone I ever installed I drove all the way in...but thats on my 4.6L, might be different for a 5.0

drive it in until its flush with the crank end.

The original was flush with the outside of the flywheel mounting surface. So I drove the new one in flush as well.

Pilot Bearing

I just replaced one. The new one had a flange on the outside circumference. The flange allowed the bearing to go in one way and let it go to the correct depth which is all the outside race into the crankshaft.

Was yours the RAM BA50M pilot bearing?

you drive it in til it stops. you'll hear the dead blow noise when you try hitting it in any further.
