How good are the modulars at not sludging up. With their vaunted reputations, the japanese sure do have sludgy and varnishy engines. I looked at my camshaft today or i assume what was my camshaft (i peeked in the oil filler tube) and mine was nice and clean

our motors are very good at not sludging up. just change your oil and filter. sometimes the PCV valve will blow oil into the intake, coating the runners with oil. installing a oil seperator helps stop this.

Have you seen some of the toyota 3.0 V6's? Maintaince is done and after about 24k its sludged up and it starts burning oil. A while later is seizes.

No, it is basically their mid-line V6, 22k starting for the Camry and the Lexus ES330 is plagued with similar problems.

Hundreds of thousands of Crown Victorias have run in fleets for taxi and municipal services. Some for well over 200K miles. I think the 4.6 is a solid bet.

The 4.6L is a very good engine if you take care of it.
