how hard is it to install injectors?

Waste of time. I believe stock injectors are good for upwords of 280-300hp NA!

I searched google and found this:

go to the bottom of the page and there are calculators for sizing of injectors. It says 19lb injectors should be good until around 250 hp Naturally Aspirated

Oh, and to the original poster:

Your injectors might be "stuck" in the lower intake. I had to pull really hard to get mine out. I don't know if spraying wd-40 or pb blaster in there would help or if it's recommended. I just had to pull and wiggle and finally got mine out.

I lubed my new o-rings up w/ some vaseline before I put 'em back on. I know you're buying new injectors, so you won't have to do that most likely, but maybe some vaseline around the edge of the o-ring would help it slide back in and maybe not be so hard to get out next time.

don't forget to make sure you have the fuel rails bolted down tight to the lower intake. I forgot to put one of the bolts in and the fuel rail lifted off an injector and caused a nice little fire in my engine bay

It's not hard to do. The hardest part is taking the upper intake off. Make sure you use tape or something to mark the vacuum hoses and where they go.

Fuel injector seal kits with 2 O rings and a pintle cap (Borg-Warner P/N 274081) are available at Pep Boys auto parts. Cost is about $2.74 per kit.. The following are listed at the Borg-Warner site ( http://www.borg-warner.com ) as being resellers of Borg-Warner parts:

Use motor oil on the O rings when you re-assemble them & everything will slide into place. The gasoline will wash away any excess oil that gets in the wrong places and it will burn up in the combustion chamber.

The pintle caps fit either injectors with a pin sticking out the injector end or 4 with more tiny holes in the injector end

Look in the A/C repair section for the fuel line tools. They look like little plastic top hats. You will need the 1/2" & 5/8" ones. The hat shaped section goes on facing the large part of the coupling. Then you press hard on the brim until it forces the sleeve into the coupling and releases the spring. You may need someone to pull on the line while you press on the coupling. Put some motor oil on them when you put the line back together.

i bought a fuel injector rebuild kit off ebay for $21 - even came with one spare of each part. removal and rebuild was a breeze, and i was stunned at how much difference i could tell. the 24 lb injectors should really wake your car up if you have alot of other mods.

Why did you buy the rebuild kit? The reason I'm asking is b/c I've got some major leaks from my injectors and I know its coming from the top portion of the injector (close to the fuel rail). I thought I had to replace the injector but if I can just rebuild it....I will.

Look closer at the injector(s) that are leaking. Mine had little cracks at the top of the injector that leaked a little bit, thus I had to replace them. I finially figured that out after I replaced the O rings. Also, when I messed with the injectors (They were the stock ones), other cracked and started leaking.

Oh....I didn't know they could crack. Well, I think I'm just going to buy some injectors from a reputable person on ebay. They've got some ford motorsports injectors with new o-rings and pintle caps for a pretty good price. Assuming that the person is honest and the injectors aren't cracked.

I bought a set of 8 Ford Racing injectors from Summit for around $210 a while back.

That's about what I paid also, but at a local speed shop.

Just look closer at the injectors. It will be a small, black crack in the plastic by the top.

A note about the pintle caps. They can be a major pain to install, but this pointer I read worked wonders:
Boil a pot of water, then toss in the new pintle caps for about 30-75sec. Carefully pull them out with a spoon and toss them on a towel to dry for about 15 sec. Immediately install them on the injectors. They should snap on without much force and without breaking the caps.
