Looking to start cleaning up the engine compartment.. I have already moved my MSD box inside the cab :nice: ... Anyway I know there are a few of you out there who have removed the front finders... How hard is it? Approx how many bolts and where at?

Oh can this be done in a weekend? Had one guy tell me it would take like an hour to remove each finder? I look to remove the finders figure out a good place to run the wires and cut holes in stratigic places.. I figure i need a drimmel or a cutting wheel, some vacuum hose, and whatever tools it takes to removed the finders.

Also when hiding the wires what will need extended? When i get started i want to be able to finish asap, so im looking to be completely prepared.

Any usefull tips will be helpful..

about an hour or so to remove sounds about right. the tools you would need should just be sockets and a ratchet and severel extensions to get the one in the middle of the back of the fender.

taking them off aint hard. but, its the putting them back on. fenders are completely adjustable to line them up with the hood and doors. i suppose if you just mark around each bolt with magic marker for where it was or something, that would make it easier

Taking the fenders off is easy. Its pretty self explanitory, you have to start with the front bumper, then the fenders/inner fender. You can probably get away with just removing the inner fenders. I had to take my front bumper off for the intercooler, so i yanked the fenders as well to as they only take a couple minutes more.

For the fenders.. There is 2 bolts where the door is, one facing towards the front of the car, and one in the other direction. There are two underneath the car, near the ground affects, you will see it once you get the plastic corner piece(i dunno what its called) off. Theres a few under the hood that you can see, and one more that conects to piece that bolts to the frame. But like i said, the front bumper has to come off first.

Its real easy to do, shouldnt take more then an hour or two to get the fenders off, and front bumper/headlights out.

I only had to lengthen my pass side headlight wires, and alt wires as well.

Like Jesse mentioned there is an inner bolt holding the fender on inside the door jam. Man that pissed me off for awhile until I figured it out. I took the passenger side fender off in about 20 minutes which was my first time. I didn't take the driver's side off, only took out the plastic fender well. I cut a 3X3 inch hold under the distribution box and ran everything through that. All the wires were easily looped under the radiator and cleaning back to the passenger side. I was actually amazed at this. Like mentioned too I had to extend my passenger side headlamp wire by like 3 inches. All in all it wasn't that hard. May even do the windshield washer resevoir as the coolant resevoir to clean up the front more. CCRM is already in the fender.

Most of the things I;ve done haven't required more than just removing that plastic inner fender. Once that (and your wheel obviously) is out, there is plenty of room to mess with. I prefer that way since you know where to not put the wiring and hoses at least.
