How hard is it to swap a 460 into a Fox?

It isnt that hard. There is no way that you can get it to fit under a stock hood tho.. i believe that explodinggopher had a 6"cowl but he said he could fit it under a 4". Also jegs makes a kit with all the parts to make it fit : http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_761731_-1_11253 i believe that from the factory they werent power houses but has massive torque... remember if you build a 460 you will have a alot of cubes to mess with just remember a well built engine should be able to put out 1-1.5 hp per cube so thats a possibilty of anywhere from 460 to 690 i kno ppl who stroked them and making 900+ on somewhat simple combos

My buddy has a 429 under the stock hood of his '81 Coupe. To overcome the clearance issues, he cut a round hole in the hood and mounted a '70 Boss 429 hoodscoop. It fits nicely.

He did this conversion back in 1984 and bought the entire kit from a company that was around back then. He got a different K-member, engine mounts, headers and other miscellaneous parts. It looks right at home in the engine bay.

The only problem with his combo is the C-6 transmission. There's no overdrive and with his 3.73 gears, he can't really take it on the highway for long periods. It kind of stinks, because we're always going to shows in Connecticut or New Hampshire (2.5 hours away) and he can't go because his car won't keep up, due to the high rpms that he's pushing.

If you're going to do it, make sure you find a way to use an overdriven transmission or you may regret your choice.

It will fit. A 4.6L 284ci motor is 4 inches wider than a 460. Also, www.50resto.com should have 460 motor mounts for a fox...that allow you to use the stock K-member.
