Ok, stupid but serious question guys...I've been arguing with my friend over this forever now...I'm not great with technical stuff, I just drive...So, you can see my car below and the mods done to it, with an E-303 Cam...When I race my car on the streets I shift at about 4500, which seems plenty high enough to me, but not to my friend...He says I should be shifting at least at 5500 when racing, although by the way my engine sounds and by my tac needle slowing down 5500 seems way too high...Am I crazy or should I be shifting that high or higher?? Call me an idiot, but I need the answer to this!

I'd shift at 5500 if I was you. My intake only car I ran it on up to 5800 in 1st and 2nd. With my current setup it's almost to the limiter.

a stock mustang pulls to about 5000-5200 or so. i have a b-cam and i take to 5500-5600 when i am getting on it, mine tack needle doesnt slow down, it speeds up and i have to time the shift so i dont hit the rev limiter.

with he e-cam it should be pulling long after 4500, i'd take it 5500 myself, if it keeps pulling and doing some good.

the only real good way to tell your best shift point is on a dyno by finding your peak power rpm and shifting there.

Get an accurate tachometer (not stock) and then see if it quits pulling at the 'real' 4500rpm.

Was your cam installed straight up. Your friend is right if your car is actually seeing that 5,500+rpm. An accurate rpm guage is the best
