My car runs at 210 normally without the a/c and as soon as i turn it on it will go to 220 and try to climb all the way to 230...it's 100+ here in california, are these temps normal? should i worry or turn the a/c off? i DO have a fluidyne too by the way, and a 180 t-stat but i also have underdrive pullies.

Confirm that your high speed fan comes on with AC. If only low is coming on (not uncommon), then the car can heat up.

Good luck.

We dont know if that's the high speed working. FOr instance, on mine only low speed came on with AC. Now that I have paid attention, I'm not alone with having had this issue.

You can hear the difference in the two speeds if you're used to it. You can check Pin 14 on the CCRM for 12 volts - if you have it, that means that low speed is on. If Pin 17 on the CCRM is grounded, that means high is being told to be on.

Or check the fan's wiring connector for which wire has 12 volts. High speed is on the bottom and low speed is in the middle, as seen when lookin down from the top of the radiator, in front of the car. Be REALLY CAREFUL if you check any of these wires since there are lots of moving parts and lots of heat.

Good luck.

I would check your high speed fan as Hissin stated. If that is working properly and you are still seeing high temps getting your high speed fan on at 180 degrees would probably help out a lot at keeping temps down. I never see over 180 degrees w/ the a/c on unless i run her real hard. I have a fluidyne, 160 degree t-stat, fan switched on with ignition, distilled water with 2 bottles of water wetter.. Those three made a world of difference. Hope this helps.
