How hot is too hot?

:bang: No, and as I was typing that earlier I thought "plumbing" for some reason, lol. Looks like I'll be making another stop on the way home. Andy could you still chime in and verify you bought your nuts in the plumbing section? ;)

Chris, I bought both of those very nuts at the HD on CENTEX EXPWY, go to the back half of the store, go to the plumbing aisle where they have the replacement faucet knobs on the left front of the aisle, then on the right side of the aisle just before half way you'll see the nuts in the blue bag.
My car ran hot for a long time, but I recently put the Fluidyne and a Mr Gasket 180* balanced HP t-stat in and now it runs nice and cool, especially on the highway. On the 1000 mile road trip back home the needle was on the "O" on the stock temp guage the entire time. When I took out my stock radiator, I brushed it lightly with my hand and the find just crumbled off.

Well I stopped by Home Depot to look for the nut. But all I could find was 1/2" and 3/4". No 5/8". So I bought the 3/4" hoping maybe it would fit. Otherwise I guess I'll go to Lowe's or something. I'm gonna see if it fits tomorrow morning.

Tim, good to hear your car is running cool. I WISH mine would stay on the O. I usually sit around 195 or so, which ain't bad, but when it comes to aggressive driving, the temps usually climb up a little.

Andy, one of these days I'll be getting a fluidyne, but first I need a wideband (ordering one tomorrow or monday) and a fuel pump.

Scott, I tried Ace Hardware, and they didn't have anything that big. The poor guy even came out and looked at the EGR bung and burned his hand on the inner fender leaning over to look at it, lol. Poor guy.

The radiator is more important than the wideband, IMO../

I've never had a problem with the stock radiator and cooling even though it's only a 1 core. I have heads/cam/intake/longtubes/s-trim and the car never goes past 210 (while sitting in traffic) and most the time it runs 190ish

Where do you live? The stock radiator seems to work fine for some folks who occasionally see 90 or a few degrees more, but not much.

FWIW, my car never got hotter than 195 today, and it was 100 degrees out!

Dammit! I went BACK to Home Depot, and my friend and I scoured the plumbing section, and found NO 5/8" caps. :bang: All we found was 1/2" and 3/4". So we went to Lowes, and guess what?! No 5/8" cap. :damnit: What the hell?! I'm not spending freaking $20 on a stupid nut from Wazee. :fuss: Anybody wanna buy one and mail it to me? I'll pay ya $5!! lol
