I've heard that a bare long block 5.0 weighes in at about 500 lbs. stock. I've also heard that you can take off 40 or so using aluminum heads. Is there anything else that can be done? Is 400 lbs. unreachable?

(In case you wonder why I care, I'm looking at kit car options, and plan to run lots of autocross where weight distribution is a big deal.)

Thanks in advance!

ok things that you can take off the motor.

change to aluminum heads
Polution pump system
A/c system
Power steering pump and bracket
aluminum pulleys

That is all I can think of, as far as weight, I think that comes in about 100 pounds. Does that sound right for all of that stuff.
