How long are stock COPS good for?

And how expensive are they to replace? I really hope they arent close to the price Grenatallie is charging for them.

Reason I ask is cause after I changed the plugs and fuel filter I still have a little bit of a bog after a cold start taking off in 1st gear. It usually clears up after I start rolling, but sometimes it will hesitate as soon as I shift into 2nd also.

When I pulled the packs some of them had a little ring of rust on the bottom of the boot... My dumbass didnt use any dialectric grease before I put them back in though, but if they are on their way out anyway I doubt that would have helped.

They are good until they no longer pass the primary and secondary voltage tests as outlined in the Haynes manual.

I see COP coils priced typically at about $50 per coil and they can be bought individually.

Get a multitester and a Haynes manual and find out what is really going on.

HOLY CRAP.

Is that seriously the cheapest they are? I know the Grenatalli ones are like 500 bucks, but ive heard enough times to stay clear from them. Just some stock replacments would work, but damn thats expensive.

I got some priced at vato zone and they were $46 each.. that's the cheapest i've found them, but they were an aftermarket brand, not Motorcraft/Ford

However, I won't go with anything but Motorcraft if I can help it

Yeah Id like to keep it Motorcraft too. I didnt know they were that expensive... that really sucks. I knew I had something against distributorless ignitions, hahaha.

All Granatelli products are garbage period
I seen a picture of one of the Granatelli control arms
cracked right in half.
+1 Get the Ford Motorcraft COPS and be done with it.

Just clean your COPS up with some wd40 and a nylon brush dry them and reinstall them using the silicone grease they should be just fine.

Correct me if I am wrong, but since you are only bogging on a cold start, wouldn't the engine not be up to temp yet, and since the ECU knows the engine is not warm, it does not give you full performance? Something to do with the A/F ratio I think...could be wrong though.

I have a little bog if I start me car and drive, but if I let it idle for say 2-3min it runs great off the line.

I dont know, ive never noticed another car that bogged off the line when its not warmed up, except for my Jeep but thats a whole nother story, haha.

The reason I think it may the the COP's is because ive changed the plugs and fuel filter, and it got a little bit better, but its still there and the COP's are really the only thing left that I think would cause it.

Not the only thing you can do. Clean the MAF/replace the air filter/run injector cleaner and spray injection cleaner into a vac port with the motor running like sea foam or I just use any spray carb/injection cleaner.
