how long before i blow the tranny

so most of you guys know about the little HCI set up ill be running on the car.. ill be running a stock rebuilt aode with a new stock tc... any ideas as to how long u think it would take for me to blow it? i got my $$ on maybe once or twice down the track before it blows ...

anyone runnin an H/C/I with a completely stock tranny?

I don't think its anything you need to worry about in the immediate future. If you had a S/C on top of all that Id be concerned. I did a lot of runs on my stock T5 making about the same power you will be if not more and I never broke anything in the tranny or the rear end. What it really comes down to is traction and that's something you don't have to worry to much about at Epping , If you were running slicks they yeah but w/ BFG DR's I think you will be fine.

If you do break something I automatically win by default

My buddy did the J-mod from this site with some good success...

I didn't have any tranny problems til I put a S/C on mine. Then it blew on the way to the track!! Had 321 RWHP til I put the S/C on it.

It held up for a while... It was still holding on with 10k on it then we swapped it out for a TKO600...

I have a stock T5 in my HCI. I don't expect toooooo much more out of it, I get some slight grinding going into 3rd and the shifts are starting to get stickier than usual. That could be in my head though...

what i was reading into getting a lightning, one of the things i was reading about were the shift kits offered.

from what i read, that shift kits are actually healthier for the trans. i forget the reasoning. i could probably find the article on it.

one thing i didnt like about the lightning trans, from what i read it disables 4 cylinders during shifting. is it that way for the mustang auto trans?

It probably cant be much worse than the T5. Mine grinds going into third, and the other day I shifted down into 4th on the interstate and now it gets stuck in 4th... I guess I must have scarred the gear or something, but I have to skip 4th all together or else I have to come to a complete stop and hit the shifter until it pops out of 4th. I still have a stock engine with about 82,000 on the ticker. Aparently the sincros cant hold up to too much hard shifting. I wouldnt count on the auto lasting more than 6 months to a year after your H/C/I install, depending on how you drive of course.

next time it gets stuck, try pushing the clutch in, and then releasing it, then push it in again and try to take it out of gear.

for some reason my car used to get stuck in 5th gear. i would do that, and it would take it out of it, it hasn't gotten stuck in a while, and i don't know doing what i did does to make it undo itself, but it worked so hey. haha.

yeah i know theyre not much reliable... i just need it to last me enuf to save up for a total haul on a new aode and a stall... reason im asking is because i wanted to run it onthe track in either august or october(the 2 times that im heading up to the dragway) just to get some times and see what im running.. just seeing if either id be driving home or AAA was coming to get me LOL

I really don't think you will have to many issues just running twice at the track this year, or course I say that now so watch something break but its not as if your running slicks on a well prepped track. Depends on whats weaker between your tranny and your rear end, which ever is the weaker point will break first if anything was to go
