How long did you have to wait between the time you decided you were going to get a Mustang and the time you actually got it?

I was going to be making the purchase this fall, but other circumstances got in the way (wedding :notnice:... just kidding, honey!) so it probably won't be until next year before I can make the purchase without worry. It's killing me. Especially because I have every mod I want to do picked out .

And I kind of feel like an idiot because I joined the site expecting to have my Mustang in the next couple months, but here I am floating around with nothing and probably won't have one 'til next year. :rlaugh:

About a day. I had been looking at new/used cars for about 6 months. I test drove everything; STI,EVO,350z,Mazadaspeed6 among others. I took one test drive in a Red Mustang GT 5 speed because it was the only mustang they had on the lot. I decided thats what I wanted that day. Then next day I went back they were supposed to have a blue one on the lot for me to check out but they let someone else test drive it even though I was pre-approved for purchase and everything, WITH a appointment to check it out !!! So I said F-U and went down the road and found my second color choice with the exact options I wanted. Bought it that day.

I went in for an oil change on my old mustang and walked out with a new one. Almost...

I decided I was going to buy it, but needed to sell my car first. Posted it on craigslist, 3 hours later its sold. Luckily my dealer had one identical to how I would've ordered it.

It took me about three months, I had to convince the wife first. (See post on spouses and mustangs). I feel your pain. The first 2.5 months of the search, I was not sure I could get a mustang, and keep the wife happy (i.e. no one is happy). It did make me feel like an idiot at times. But now I have one, so clearly I am not an idiot, right?

The upside to waiting a year, is that you can get a 2010 Mustang. That is, if your looking to buy new. Then again, if your looking to buy new, just a get used one, and you can probably make the deal today. I just bought a loaded (heated seats :nice:) used 07 for 20k, much cheaper than new at 32k+.

Let's see. I'm 33 now, was in high school in the late 80's early 90's. As freshman, a senior had an '88 GT and I've wanted a Mustang ever since, but never pulled the trigger since my vehicle needs didn't allow it (had to have a truck). Then I saw the S197 concept at Detroit in '03. I knew I would get on eventually. Flash forward to Ford's '06 model year blow out in Aug of '06 with 0% financing for 72 months. Went to the Ford dealership on the night before the deal started to check out the inventory on F-150s to go back and buy one over the weekend. Then I saw her. Sitting under the lights, exactly how I had "build and priced" on Ford's website several times over. Went back the next day on my lunch break to get things started so I could pick up when I got off work. So, on one hand it took me almost 17years to get my Mustang, but on the other, it took less than 24 hours. :rlaugh:

A little over 2 months. A couple of weeks to find the right dealer with the right price. They ordered it with the exact options I wanted, as there wasn't one with those options (or close to it) in the SW region, and it took the full eight weeks to get to me. Longest eight weeks of my life. Still jealous of you, SD2000, for having one at the dealer:nonono:

This is my second mustang, the first one I got used when I was 16, test drove it on a thursday and drove home with it on monday.

got hired on May 5th signed the papers on May 15th on my 08 vista blue.

but before that i waited 24 years before i got my first mustang. I wanted a late 90's cobra convertible and it took a month or so of hunting for one till i found her. I have always wanted mustangs but never could afford one or the insurance, and have a car for winter months.

3 Years. I knew I wanted one when I saw the concepts in 2004 but did not want to pay the dealer markups when they came out and wanted to see what the reviews where on the new model. Finally got it in July of 2007. :)

I did have an 89GT Convertible to take the speed itch out and help with the Mustang crave. Also a 67 for cruising.

2 months cause I researched them and searched all the dealers till I found the one I wanted. :)

Same for me, but a little harder because the only way I was gunna afford one was to buy it across the border:canada:. I had to do all the 'red-tape' reasearch as well to import. I saw this 06' red vert about 3 hrs. away, and seemed like it was a helluva deal, anyhoo, it had a repair dun to the top, but the price was too good (21k) for me to pass up. 06 verts here in Canada with low kms go for bout 29k. If you KNOW you're gunna buy a stang next year, buy some parts now, or have a seperate account for all the mods - it won't nearly be as lrg of a hit. gl meng :nice:

A couple months. One day I decided I might want a Mustang. Then it took about a month to decide, and i test drove one, then decided I really wanted a Mustang, but didn;t know if I could afford it or give up my truck. Then my truck got a flat tire, I got really pissed, went to the dealer the next week to see what they had, then 2 days later they got the car I wanted and I bought it.

BUT, you could say 8 years too, because I wanted a Mustang right when I started high school, but never got one, then after high school lost interest in Mustangs and could have bought one but never did. Now, 8 years later I'm back into it and have one.

Found it on the used car lot at the dealership I was working at. Alot of people were talking about it and looking at buying it. I came in one a saturday for work, and as I was driving out with my dad I stopped to look at it. Test drove it, brought it home, showed it to mom, brought it back and bought it. I had my 98 GT at the time. Now i'm an 18 year old with a new mustang.. lol.

i waited about eight months wanted one but with insurance and everything i ended up with a rx-8 great car but not a mustang. Then my credit went up and i got married so beteween needing to get a loan on my own(preiously co-signed with gma) and being able to put my wife as the primary driver i picked up a black C/S after a grueling week of looking. i work nights and looked during the day but it was worth it.
