Hey guys,

Can anyone provide the part number of their oil dip stick? Still trying to figure out what the previous owner of my 94GT did, but the oil level on the stick thats in there reads about 2" inches above the full line.. even when i know i've put in the correct amount of oil. All i can think of is that along with the dipstick tube i found in there.. the dipstick is too longer and not for that car.

Thanks.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Put the correct amount of oil in there, and then scratch a line on the dipstick, so you know that's the full mark. I would help you, but I don't have a stock dipstick either.

Oh gotcha well thanks for the reply. I figured I'd just call ford and ask. I can just scribe a line as you suggest, but would rather have it be the correct stick.

When you drained the oil did you drain both plugs and change the filter, then add 5 quarts of oil, then start the car, then let it settle and check the oil?

My dipstick has 29" of dipstick protruding from the handle and there is an "M" stamped in the piece that is connected to the handle before it is riveted to the part that actually goes into the oil pan if that makes sense...

Okay but.. if there are two humps, and the engine dipstick tube only goes to rear sump.. you will never be able to accurately check engine oil levels.. if there is 1 quart of oil in the front sump.. that cant be read from the engine dipstick.

I think that when the car is level the oil actually goes over the divider between the humps....

Well, I would say we found your problem. And yes, when the car is level, the oil goes over the hump into both sumps.
