I've heard that on 94-2004's you shouldn't go lower than 1.5 inches as it will screw with your steering geometry. I cut my springs and I'm right at about 1.5 inches. But I still feel like the center of gravity needs to be lower for better handling.......especially in the rear. Any thoughts or ideas?

1" looks good. Anything more, in my opinion, makes the car look like it is squating.

for a mustang.. my car handles great. it sticks to the road and hangs with every turn. i love my suspension setup and really believe the ss are the best looking spring for lowering.

ironically enough, more then 1" and you are already changing the geometry of both the suspension and steering rack.... so you have already broken the barrier, just cut them to whatever you want now as it wont get much worse.

on a side note the reason you probably "feel" like the center of gravity is out is because you cut the springs and now have really nothing working on keeping the car upright. when lowering i've recomended my HR race springs, lowers just a tad, but its a stiff progressive spring... lamens terms: it makes handeling beter then the other springs, period.

SS are nice, but too low of a drop for me, at that point you will bottom out and not be able to grip the corners as well due to the low travel area of the suspension with the short springs.... but hey, take it for what its worth.

the stock rear is looser than a hooker on saturday morning, you need a decent set of LCAs (lower control arms) for better planting http://www.maximummotorsports.com/s...e=product_info&cPath=21_91_92&products_id=498

good set of full length subframes will aid the overall fell of the car

what exactly are you looking for handling wise?

If you are really concered about handling you shouldn't be cutting the springs.

H&R Sport springs will drop your car about 1.5".

Caster/Camber plates would be in order. Don't cut springs unless you want to compromise your ride. I'm sitting (lowered) at 1-3/4" in the front and 1-1/2" in the rear. They DO NOT look like I'm squatting... It actually looks normal now not slammed.

See pics...

When you cut your springs you lose the temper. Thats why you see the ricer cars bouncing around when the hit a bump.

I beg the differ. 2" drop with proper wheel does not have squat look
IMO 2" drop with stock 17" will look like its squatting to take a dump. but with 18", it look pure sex instead

But if your after handring, i say stay with in 1.5"

1.5" drop max or you may suffer ride quality degradation and scraping on any low/off angle surface! I'm near 2" drop right now, and I'l be puting it back up to 1.5" drop (still don't know what ride height that is...from ground to fenders lol) when I get my next alignment.

I cut mine then aligned after. About 1 1/4" drop all around. Handles great, far less understeer, and no lean. The ride isn't harsh. But I used a cutoff tool and made sure I didn't overheat the springs, so no change in temper. It does raise the spring rate though when you remove coils. No regrets here though. If done right, there's nothing wrong with cut springs. Most aftermarket lowering springs have a higher spring rate than stock. Just like anything else, just don't over do it.

I have H&R Super sports and I would say that it is lowered about 2 inches front and 1.75 inches in the rear. It looks great, but it is too low for my MAC Prochamber and it scrapes quite heavily.

They're like "C" and steeda sport springs, alot of people have them so just look thru the Pic thread (Sticky in Talk) and see who has the either sports or C's

or someone can post their own
