As winter approaches, I am thinking of getting a short block built for my car/from my car. I have pulled and installed my share of engines in british cars, but nothing as complicated as my stang. This project would allow me to get a bigger blower in the spring. I am handy and have done my share of work on cars, but no longer have any of the equipment.
Bottom line: how hard is it to pull the engine, dismantle it, rebuild and install it? I do have mechanics I can call on if I get in trouble.
Thanks,
Doc

The modular engines are easy to disassemble, but require expensive tools and machine shop equipment to assemble properly. They have WAY tighter tolerances than any pushrod engine. You could build one with ease at home as long as you don't plan on throwing too much power at it. The bigger the blower, boost and so on, the more important these tight tolerances become. Even the simple process of honing the cylinders requires expensive torque plates to be bolted in place of the heads to give the same bore distortion simulation as a set of bolted on heads.

I recommend you purchase a couple of mod motor rebuild manuals and not the one Sean Hyland wrote.
