I was on my way back from lunch a few minutes ago and really just kinda dazing at the wheel, wondering how many of you watch your tach while driving say around town and what not?

If so, why?.. I figure boredom, but I'm sure you guys can stump me.

Why do I look at my tach while driving in town? To see how much oil pressure I have in my gas tank when I'm at full boost of course!

i only look at my gauges to see how hot it says im running and the gas. And now when im at a stoplight i check the volts but when im driving i dont look at the tach. I just drive by ear, i know what points i need to upshift and down shift.

I shift by ear too, but I look at my tach just to see exactly what rpm I'm shifting at. Oh, and I watch all my other guages just out of habit so I always know whats going on with my car.

I monitor the tachometer at stop lights to see how well the engine is performing...i.e. idle problems and whatnot....

I watch all of the gauges pretty much all of the time while driving. They always have told me that I'm hyperactive though.

I look at all my gauges while driving out of habit. I worked at ford for 2 yrs. and you would be surprised how many people have ruined there engines, electrical (alt, battery, etc) just because they didn't pay attention to there gauges. I learned from everone elses mistake

I like to have a "sense" of what's going on (all you can get with the stock gauges), so yes I look at them. I caught my seized wp by noticing a lower voltage on the gauge. Before my engine could overheat, I investigated, and made the discovery. Glad I keep track now.

I always drive by ear. But those time that a powershift is needed between 1-2 and 2-3. Its fun to see the speedo jump 10 mph after popping the clutch.

I watch my tach, mainly because I like to see it jump when I hit the gas. I also listen to my exhaust and note at what RPM it sounds best, then I try to drive at that RPM. I just like watching it and listening to it I guess.

Drive by ear myself, but sometimes watch the tach while power shifting just to see my shift points. Car sounds best at 4700 rpm here, hits 130 decibals! That gas gauge doesn't work too well at 4700 rpm though.....seems to fall quickly.

I glance at them periodically. Usually just to make sure nothing is about to explode. That's all the stockers are good for, I'm waiting for some Autometers.

I just mainly listen to the engine and how loud the exhaust is so i don't piss off any nearby cops. Always check the temp when I'm at a red light though.

The tach's about the only gauge I don't watch...except my speedo since that hasn't worked in god knows how long. And my temp cause that's never been accurate. Or my oil pressure cause it always reads 0. Christ my car sucks
