How many people here really think they are never gonna sell their Mustang and why?

-I hear it all the time here and wonder how many people are serious and why?

-How many have said that and then sold their Stang for one reason or another?

It just doesn't seem feasible to keep this same car forever.

I do plan on it. It was my first 'Stang, I know the car like the back of my hand, it's paid for, and I like the car enough that one day I wouldn't mind giving it a complete restoration. It's the hotrod of my generation basically, and I'm fortunate enough to own one.

However, if for whatever reason a situation arises where I'm in a financial bind, I'm not foolish enough to keep the car and add to financial issues. If it has to go, it goes. If it's by my choice, it'll stick with me, if I have kids, maybe I can pass it on to them.

I do not have any plans or intentions of ever selling my Mustang. It is my first car, I paid for it myself, along with all the mods on it, and all the gas that's ever been put in it. It's a nice car in GREAT shape considering it's 12 years old; runs, rides, and drives pretty good; gets good fuel mileage; and a big majority of people think that is a very nice and sexy looking car. Honestly, I doubt that I could get more than a few thousand dollars for it even if I did try and sell it.

My plan is to keep this car for as long as it stays running, continue to drive it every day, and when funds allow, get a 03 Sonic Blue Termi. The Cobra would be the fun car to drive on weekends or nights out, and the 98 GT would be the daily driver, just as it is now.

And if, Heaven forbid, something catastrophic were to happen to the motor, but the rest of the car was fine....well, let's just say that I probably wouldn't have a hard time convincing myself that I could build it into a track car. Then just get another Stang (or maybe a Powerstroke) to use as the DD.

Regardless of what happens, I keep my car anyway.

Not sure if I'll keep my current one, but I plan to always have at least 1 in the stable, didn't vote because the other options would make me a liar

have had it for 11 years so far and no intentions of selling it even though my wife mentions it once in a while. she is all for newer and shinier.

What he said, plus my mother basically gave me the car, its the one thing I would have of them when my parents past on. You start to think about yours and others mortalilty when you realise that anyone and anything can go at anytime. Sorry :OT: a bit.

I said this years ago about my 2000 GT. The reasoning was that it was paid for, 95% of the work done it on it was by me and I was very attached to the car.

However in the end I think I made the best choice for me financially when I sold it. I bought a house and was in the process of gathering parts for a different engine combo so the car was a roller. Then I got hit with two huge bills (taxes adjusted after the first year and my insurance doubled due to hurricanes) so I sold it in order to pay those bills and not get buried in debt. A few years later now that everything has stabilized I'm much better off and have another Mustang.

It's easy for me not to sell mine. I don't like the '05-'11 bodystyle anyway. They can put 1,000 HP in a Mustang, but if I think it's ugly then it does'nt matter.

what this gentlemen says , plus its my favorite body style , i simply picked the car i liked first time around, speed, suspension can be bought for the money , you cant beat the ugly out of the new mustangs

For me it depends on which Mustang. My 68 will NEVER be sold, I promise you that! It was my first Mustang and I really believe it will be with me until the day that I die. Hell, I might die in it if I can't figure out this damn steering problem.

My 90 is actually my wife's. I could part with it but it would be very hard, it has the first engine I've ever built in it. I don't think she would ever get rid of it though, so it would probably stay for a long long time.

My 04 GT, I could part with if the right car became available to me (Mach or a Terminator). It is really growing on me lately, but I could still part with it without too much difficulty.

Yup me too. If i ever sold it id be losing a ton of money, plus the thought of someone else driving off in it makes me sick...

I put so much time and effort into building/rebuilding mine it was ridiculous. From an AOD to T5 conversion, to porting heads/intake, to battery relocation, to gears, to machining parts, to paint, to interior mix n match. I loved it, I loved driving it, I loved the looks I got while driving it...it was my pride and joy and I thought I would never tire of it.

....then I did and sold it.

Nothing is forever, no matter how much anyone thinks it is. I'll get another one someday, but at the time, selling mine for a different project seemed like the right decision.

I will keep mine until I die. I am 69 and after driving my GF's Mustang convertible decided I wanted a Mustang also. Thoroughly enjoy driving it. I have a beater Camry that runs very good and I use it when I will be around the numb nuts that open car doors with no regard to other cars. My Mustang is a 2009 GT Premium, all black so any ding is very obvious.

Over the years since I got the car in 03 I wanted to sell my 99 Cobra. Just had alot of issues here and there. But, now since it seems to be running well and it has over 100k on the odo, I don't think I'd ever get the amount that I want for it. Instead, I just ended up buying some detailing products so I can restore the finish and now the paint is in better condition than it ever was. Fun to drive too.
